This was supposed to be a light read, but I’m crying and putting this on my “favorites” shelf, joining other legendary Tal Bauer books like “You and Me”, “The Grave Between Us”, and “Gravity”.
Normally I don’t like vacation resort books (I used to work at a resort, so I’ve seen the ugly side of tourism), but the story was darling enough to keep me going, especially with the darling cowboy mmc. In fact, some vacation scenes reminded me of my marriage, because there’s something magical about falling in love by the ocean.
However! I’m also never trusting Tal again when he calls something a “low angst” book! This was an emotional journey from start to finish, and I was flat out bawling in some chapters. Luckily they were often good tears, so I won’t forward my therapy bill to Tal *this* time.
I loved this book. Probably will try to pitch it for my book club’s Book of The Month. Also Tal can I live in your wonderful Texas towns? They’re often so magical and queer friendly!
4/5 spice
3-4/5 angst
