The Burglar Caught by a Skeleton And Other Singular Tales from the Victorian Press by Jeremy Clay

4.25

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The stories – true or not – are funny and the reporting tells you about the spirit of the time:
“it would be permissible to regard them as an inventions suggested by sundry of the marvellous ‘cures’ in vogue in the Middle Ages.” It’s kinda funny to see how they talk about medicine in the Middle Ages given how we talk about medicine in the Victorian era.

The only issue I see is that it’s categorized, so some categories are just full of tragic stories that I only read bit by bit because reading all of those at once was a bit much.
