This was for sure a case of enjoying the book more and more as I kept reading. The author made me care about these characters. I really appreciated how Briar's character was written. She and others were shown to be intelligent, strong women with all kinds of different strengths.
The author didn't shy away from the betrayal and brutality of a hostile takeover. This book was downright gruesome, and I loved it.
The trials Briar had to go through both mentally and physically to overcome her injury were inspiring. Definitely loved this book and had a great time.
