Snaring Emberly by Gigi Styx

5.0

So if you've read Taming Seraphine (which I hope you have, because it's amazing!) you know the trigger warning page, well this one has a list that's definitely long, but not QUITE as extensive (in my opinion). It's still dark, it's still triggery, it's just not as .. psychotic? (again, if you've read about Seraphine, you KNOW what I'm talking about...kitchen scene with the chopping block). ANYWAY. This book is about Roman and Emberly and the relationship that is built totally on lies and manipulation. Well, as any good Mafia boss does, of course he falls head over heels in love and then absolutely screws everything up. Does he win the girl over? Does she figure everything out? Guess you'll have to read to find out!

Gigi Styx is a FANTASTIC writer. She pulls you in from the first page and keeps your interest in the book until the last page where you are honestly angry that after over 700 pages you're still sitting there like "wait that's it???" Each character has so much depth and you can see the world so clearly, it feels like you are right there with them.

While this book doesn't have very many spicy scenes in it (they are scattered throughout), when they are present, THEY ARE PRESENT!! She doesn't slack in the details. WOWZA they are HOT!

I am so looking forward to book 3 in this series, Breaking Rosalind. It will be great to read about Rosalind and Cesare in the same way that we've read about these other characters. Gigi, you've blown me away yet again!

"I did all those things for you because you're the only person in the world who makes me feel alive."  "Being with you is like soaring the kite-tails of freedom"
