I've read 30 books this year, but somehow none of them gave me that true 5 star/favorite feel. until Martha Wells and Murderbot came through for me, as always. I could re-read these books forever I think, Murderbot's snarky style is amazing, and I love how it's CLEARLY an unreliable narrator.
I still love how many of the side characters have same-gender or multiple partners (or both!), and there are also nonbinary characters, just completely normalized in the world. I also LOVE Murderbot making friends with other bots!
Murderbot and [REDACTED] care about each other SO MUCH and they both had so many FEELINGS and then that made ME have feelings, and also we got to know one of Mensah's kids who was ALSO REALLY AMAZING and I just loved everything.
