This is the second book in the Legends of Henosis series, a fantasy romance. Tropes and themes include political intrigue, slowburn, banter, prophecy, forced proximity, Shadow daddy, reluctant allies and found family. This is a steamy novel with adult content.
The Lovely: I loved how fast paced and how intriguing the story was. Something was always happening amid the backdrop of the main characters’ relationship. I also loved the banter, especially when the FMC was baiting the MMC.
The Mundane:: I struggled to enjoy the MMC. Normally, I like a moody, Shadow daddy vibe but he was so off-putting in how he treated the FMC for the majority of the story. We got a payoff for the slowburn but it didn’t feel like to me we got a payoff relating to the emotional aspect of their relationship.
Rating: 4/5 Stars 2/5 Flames
Recommendation: I received an early review copy and my thoughts are my own. While each book will follow a different couple, there is a lot of background that builds book to book and thus the books should be ready in order. It will make more sense that way. I think book one is still my favorite but this was an engaging read that I read in one evening. I have an idea of who the next couple will be, although there is one other female character that I hope gets her own story in the future.
