Where Fortune Lies by Mary-Anne O'Connor

4.0

The start of the book broke my heart, actually come to think of it quite a few parts of the book did. I felt for all of our main characters in uprooting their lives in late 19th century to move to Australia. I was really taken by surprise how I would feel for our main characters, Will, Mari, Anne, Alice and Charlie. I was seriously so invested in their stories, I laughed and cried at various points in the book. Talk of brumbies got me thinking of a show I used to watch as a child and made me feel very nostalgic while reading. I’m finding at the moment that I love books that are set in Australia and even better that this is set in 19th century Australia ( love me some history)! Overall a beautiful story about Australian settlers and their journey to find their home.
