There's something about a non-queer author (from what I can find from researching her) using the f slur multiple times in a book without a trigger warning, that feels ick.

This was decidedly not good. Skimmed most of it to try and see if there is a redemption ARC for the homophobic MMC. Spoiler, there's not.

And the fact that so many queer characters in this series have been (disgustingly) insulted by him, but still give him time, blows my mind. Also, tying up his homophobic aunt into a neat bow (where she tells him his sexuality won't make her love him any less) just felt unrealistic. Especially considering the other MMC also noted how homophobic she was.
