Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
4.0
Honestly, I didn't know what I was getting myself into when I started reading. But the character's description of herself made me relate at some levels, so I continued. My interest, however, was dwindling as -
- Her activities bordered on the fangirl/stalker spectrum
- She was building relationships and trying new things, but something screamed superficial about it
- Her ever-present judgemental lense
- Her complete lack of social skills
But I persisted, and there came a turning point in the plot. It was so sudden and surprising. But the character's journey from here on is beautiful.
- Her struggles are presented well
- The past is revealed in bits and pieces as she overcomes her feelings and emotions
- The bonds are built with a good foundation; thank you for not forcing a romance!
- Totally didn't expect the reveal
This book left me feeling good and made me realize I need to take charge of my life, as only I can turn it around!
PS: Did anyone else get goosebumps like never before at the ending reveal? Or did you foresee it?
