Cold War Illusions: America, Europe and Soviet Power 1969-1989 by Dana H. Allin
2.0
Dana H. Allin discusses the events that led to the collapse of the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold War. He puts these events in the context of different interpretations. In particular, he takes up the critique of the neoconservatives. He acknowledges that the neoconservatives had a huge influence on American foreign policy, but at the same time criticises them for prolonging the Cold War unnecessarily. Allin is among the new revisionists who challenge the traditional view of the Cold War. His analysis is full of skepticism that at times veers into contempt.
