Beyond Redemption by Michael R. Fletcher
4.0
Finally!!! My 200th book read after i joined goodreads and it is safe to say as something i liked.
I am not an expert in Grimm dark stories, nor am i read that much grimm dark books too but out of the many i read on this genre, this is one of the most grimmest book i've read.
The concept of this book fascinated me. There is no magic in the conventional sense in this book. One's belief makes reality and more he believes and more others believe in them, the more powerful they get. I want to compare this with our faith too. For example, if everyone chose to not follow a religion today, the next generation wont know the religion existed and that makes the gods were forgotten and indeed is like the death of the gods.
Regarding the plot and the characters, i really liked the concept of trying to make a man made god to challenge other gods and their own destiny. the pacing was relatively fast and i liked how much each mental health changes the belief system and thereby changing the powers each possess and how powerful each one gets. As per the characters, i really liked the trio of main characters and i really liked their relationships with respect to the mental health issues they have.
Like i said i really liked the concept of this story rather than the characters and the plot. That doesn't mean they are not there, but concepts are even more notifiable.
