One of the more entertaining of the Penric books I’ve read so far. I liked the new characters that were introduced, and the developing subtlety of Penric’s abilities. I look forward to seeing more of both in future books. The one quibble I had is with the insta-infatuation trope between Penric and Nikys, but I realize that’s a quirk of mine and not necessarily reflective of the novella as a whole.
