A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer
4.0
I really enjoyed my reread of this! I listened to it via audiobook this time and after so long I was afraid I had forced myself to like it but I think I enjoyed it even more this time around. There were a lot of things I missed or simply forgot about the first time around. It was a lot darker than I remembered it being or maybe it just hit me more listening to it.
I think my only real complaint about this book is that the world building is a little lacking but I adored seeing the unique aspects of the classic Beauty and the Beast story. Seeing where it stayed the same and seeing where it veered off but still resembled the original story. I love these characters and seeing their character development throughout the book. I honestly really love seeing Harper and Rhen's relationship. The fact that it's not certain they're madly in love. It feels much more realistic that they care for each other and clearly want to protect the other but whether she broke the curse or not we're uncertain of.
I of course love Grey just as much! His fierce loyalty and willingness to protect those he loves and swore to protect.
I'm excited to reread the sequel and then finally get to the final book in this trilogy. I'm nervous as I heard it's pretty meh.
