Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
5.0
I just finished reading the very last word of the book, and I am laughing. Seriously. Laughing! Because, what the heck did I just read??? I mean, seriously. I don't even know what to say. I am insignificant like that. My brain is so inferior, so stupid, when I think of the genius that is Gillian Flynn.
Gone Girl is truly a brilliant story, if not all kinds of fucked up. You know the saying, "the devil is in the details"? Well, the attention to every single detail on this one is so unbelievably amazing, I had to shake my head when I got to the end. Just when I thought I could finally feel safe and relieved...BAM!...CHECKMATE!
The characters are so complex and completely fucked up, the unfolding of the story makes me crazy mad (just thinking about it), and the writing is perfectly flawless. This book is not something I'm ever going to read again—I'm not that crazy—but I'm glad that I did because it was very much a work of art.
