Last of the Talons by Sophie Kim

5.0

I have said it before and I will say it again, you cannot beat Asian fantasy. I've never found another story to be so full of magic that captures me the way this genre does.
Last of the Talons was no different as it pulled me in from the very first page. Kim's writing is amazing. Why more people are not talking about this book is beyond me as it is a hidden treasure full of revenge, allure, intense heat between our MC and MMC, and lore.

I won't repeat the synopsis of the book as a lot of reviewers do, but I will tell you this is one of my new favorites. I could have read this in a day, had it not been 1A by the time I was creeping to the end.

I love Lina's character. I love that authors are writing more character like her: fierce, dangerous, an anti hero of sorts. Lina is morally gray, at times inching closer to that line of darkness. Rui was just as fascinating with his dark allure. Together they were unstoppable. I was eating up every single word Kim wrote. The dynamic between the two... AH! I love it.

The only qualm I had with the book was when the author wrote Lina and Rui were to ride two stallions....but then one was suddenly a mare. And then all of the sudden they end up on a single stallion but it is called a "she". Small and simple details like this always grate on me. As a horse person, it makes it even worse to read. How did this pass by betas, ARCs, AND an editor?

I loved the twist at the end and am so thankful we are getting another installment. Wrath of the Talons cannot come out soon enough.

Sophie Kim has become one of my new favorite authors.
