I'll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer by Michelle McNamara
4.0
I don’t read a lot of true crime books. I prefer to listen to a podcast or watch a documentary because I can cross-stitch at the same time. The facts and details of cases aren’t easy for me to read and I lose interest.
I wanted to pick up this book because I really enjoyed the HBO docuseries. The narration of Michelle’s book really made me fall in love with her writing and I wanted more. Michelle’s own personal reflections on working this case were the most interesting parts to me.
There’s no doubt her work helped put the Golden State Killer in the public’s mind and lead to his arrest. The comfort her work must have brought to the victims is so important and is her legacy.
