In the Lives of Puppets by TJ Klune

4.0

This book was adorable. From the start, I was hooked by Klune’s unique blend of whimsy and heart. The story transported me into a world where robots and humans coexist in an adventure full of humor, love, and deep reflection.

What stood out to me most were the characters. Each one, especially the eccentric and often hilarious robots, brought so much life to the story. I found myself laughing out loud at their witty banter and feeling genuinely moved by their moments of vulnerability. The robot is my favorite. The vic's journey isn’t just an adventure—it’s a story of finding oneself, choosing love, and redefining what it means to be a family. Klune's ability to balance such heavy themes with playful storytelling is impressive.

That said, there were moments where the pacing felt a bit uneven, and certain sections dragged more than I’d have liked. It didn't take away from my overall enjoyment, but it was noticeable. Despite that, the book's charm and heartfelt message more than made up for those lulls.

If you’re looking for a story that makes you laugh, think, and even tear up, this book is worth the read. It’s not perfect, but it’s a beautiful, imaginative tale that leaves you with a warm feeling long after you turn the last page. I give it a solid 4 stars.
