Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross had an intriguing premise, but it didn’t quite work for me. The magic was minimal, and I kept feeling like I was reading about WWI rather than a fantasy world.

On top of that, I struggled to connect with the characters, which made it hard to fully immerse myself in the story.
