The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd

5.0

The Secret Life of Bees is a simply, wonderfully written tale of a teenaged girl looking to understand her past and heal her heart. Sue Monk Kidd does a wonderful job writing this story from the point of view of a 14 year old in South Carolina shortly after the Civil Rights Act is passed.

The tale intertwines the racial tension of the time and the powerful emotions of a girl of any age looking for answers to a question she may not want to have answered.

I felt the love and power radiating from this book and did not want to put it down. It is now one of my absolute favorites.
