This wasn't a book in the series I ever expected that we'd get but that shouldn't surprise me anymoreβ with Finley one should always expect the unexpected. And expect it done well. It should come to no shock that I'm leaving one of my favorite series a glowing review but let's act like I'm not completely predictable if you please.
There's something to say about character growth and in this installment this theme has never been more present. Not only are we visiting orcs we've met (and hated) before but a woman from the past is also here to get what she's dueβ a life full of love, happiness, and plenty of orcish mischief.
If you haven't read this series, let me, after having read every novel, every side novel, every novella possible, convince you right now. There isn't another orc series out there that will give you the comfort and emotion that this one offers. It feels like a historical fantasy realm fighting for the same equality our own is. And I will always love how Finley portrays the human dilemma of life and love through her monsters.
