I really enjoyed reading this. The author did an incredible job at writing well thought out characters and relationships. The novel felt unique and personal but still provides a lot of necessary context and history which definitely adds to the quality of the story.

Trey is one of my favourite characters I’ve read because he feels so real, and his flaws provide so much colour to his character. His relationships with other people in the novel are also so special to me, I loved seeing his admiration for queer elders and other activists.

I do, however, wish there was just a little bit more of a plot to the story. I understand it’s a story of Trey’s life, but I was left wanting something more.

I am so excited to see what else Rasheed Newson does.
