As far as sequels go, this was a pretty great one. I thought the development of the characters from book one to here was really well done. I still really liked the alternating POV's and this book gave readers even more. There was more insight into the magic system and I felt like the world building was set up well. There was so much death in this book that I did not see coming and it definitely made me upset, but wow so brutal! The characters in this series are interesting and complex and my personal faves right now are Cleo and Jonas. I am so excited to see where the rest of the series goes and there's plenty of action and intrigue to keep me invested!
