This is peak YA sci-fi for me. The ending had me tearing up, and I already miss all of squad 312. The found family trope in this hits incredibly hard. Not spoiling the ending, but I really enjoyed how it wasn’t just black-and-white; the resolution was complex. No total forgiveness, but no complete condemnation either.

The characters are the back bone of this story and every single one of them is fantastic.
