Conversations with Friends by Sally Rooney
3.0
I’ve been a little nervous to read Sally Rooney because she is truly a darling of BookTok that everybody seems to love. Can she write? Absolutely. The characters, while somewhat interesting, are not particularly likable, however, and there was zero character development/growth. I was too distracted by all the co-dependency to appreciate the “relationship” between Frances and Nick. I’m also considerably older than the protagonists, which may be why they were so infuriating. I won’t not read Rooney again but I won’t be rushing out to get another of her books. I hope she has matured in her character development since this debut.
