The Oedipus Tyrannus by R. C. Jebb
4.0
Had already read this in English, and now (finally) in Greek. One of the best tragedies either way. Always devastating, in any language (though arguably too hard on its protagonist). Some of the same phrases are used a few too many times for optimal effectiveness, but in general the language, pace, and dialogues are all as good as you would expect.
Would recommend the Jebb edition over the Dawe - Jebb's suggestions and translations are all solid. I read this in a group on a reading trip and we had quite a few laughs over Dawe's comments and emendations, which can be a little presumptuous. I hope he won't feel I am too hard on him for pointing this out - not sure if he is still alive though. Probably not.
