Just not my cup of tea. The historical narrative and glimpses into the everyday lives of the Vikings and early English were highlights for me. The battle descriptions were well written enough, but not a genre I enjoy reading about, nor watching in general.

I listened to the book (which was well narrated) just before traveling from Sweden to Southern Scotland, very near the site of much of the book’s action. Wish we’d had time to see more of the Roman and Viking history that corresponds to this book.

I know this is a popular series, but I think I’ll leave it here.
