This was pretty good, but it needed to either lean into the speculative fiction elements or the questions of identity and external motivation. It tries to do both but doesn’t quite succeed at either. On the spec fic side, I wanted. Ore perspective on the other worlds. And on the identity side, we’re left with a POV character who takes action in fits and starts, almost as a reaction to how much they’re just buffeted around by the circumstances they’ve put themselves into.
