It is appropriate to say that this is a book I have been craving to read. Good historical fiction set in America is my very favorite. Give me a story that follows a wagon train of women headed from Chicago to the gold fields of California to find husband's, each with their own secrets and reasons for the journey... Yes please! I love the character development in this book and how as the plot unfolded you experienced joy and sorrow with the women as they made the tough journey west. Several times I thought about how this book could have had a lot of characters perspectives that distracted from the plot, but how I loved that it was one perspectives giving you her view of the whole experience.

Plus there is a character call back at the end of the book that is just fantastic!
