The Bodysurfers by Robert Drewe

3.0

Well written short stories that I probably should have read at the beach! It was a bit odd the way some of them linked together, like chapters from an incomplete novel strung together with other, totally unrelated stories. It's got a really 80's vibe, vividly bringing back memories of un-air conditioned cars and stinking hot summers. Nothing extraordinary happens, everyone suffers through their sordid, ordinary lives, lovers are gained, discarded and forgotten and it all feels a bit pointless. At least Baby Oil was funny!
