Beloved by Toni Morrison

Absolutely Jaw Dropping.

The writing is utter perfection and so is the plot. I love how open it is to interpretation making this book a lot more amazing. With the current #BLM movement, I felt it is essential to enlighten myself about Black History. Everybody KNOWS the big picture. But it just falls under 'slavery was bad'. But it is much more than that. “There is no bad luck in the world but white folks” - black slave on white owners. That's all anyone's fault was, to be slave, they had a bad luck to be born as black. There is no limit to which humans can be degraded to. The atrocities were traumatizing for generations. "Everything a white man hates in black man is his doing". How ever they were, they were forced to that level. This applies even now, all this movement wouldn't have happened at all if the white folks behaved. The black is guilt free in this movement and will always will be. Even now, people exist who have no history, everything was ripped from their ancestors and the world watched. Must read to only get a glimpse of pain experienced by generations.

Spoilers - Beloved was very crucial! She could have been her dead daughter's spirit or just a miracle sent to heal them. Beloved reminded everyone in that household about their awful past which made them accept it and move forward. She was a pain in their life but left them better than how she found them. That's what I think her purpose was. But again, some wounds never heal.
