Feb. 2025 reread: Ah, the continuing chronicles of Murderbot being dragged kicking and screaming into caring about people. Lots of very crunchy tension in this one, and some very fun fight scenes. I admit I didn’t like the humans in this one as much as some of the others – I found them all a little interchangeable, honestly. But I did like watching Murderbot on its journey of emotions as it compared its own treatment to that of the beloved bot pet Miki. While the storyline of this book technically ties into the rest of the series, inasmuch as Murderbot is doing research into one of the previously-encountered companies, I don’t think there were any crossovers in terms of characters, which made it feel a bit disconnected. But still, much fun and a lovely comfort-read for when I’m stressed.
