I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I have many feelings about this book…

Nate is an easy character to empathize with and his back story is pretty heartbreaking. It was interesting to follow his journey despite the amount of trauma and abuse he endures really hurts my heart! I have to admit I was pretty happy when the author mentioned a sequel at the end. I'd like to see how his story progresses after the tumultuous events of this book.

Raziel was also a great character. I've always been intrigued by the idea of a fallen angel and this take on it is really interesting.

The relationship between the two main characters is both heartwarming and devastating. Their unshakable mutual trust was everything but their love remains fragile and tender throughout.

I also really adored Jamie. I think it's so important to have trans and plus size representations, however his contributions to the plot as Nate's best friend makes him far from just a ticked box.

The only negative feedback I have is regarding the pacing. I feel like some scenes could definitely use a little more attention to detail. The scene where Nate and Raziel meet as well as the intimate moments between them, are definitely among the scenes that I would have liked to last a bit longer. I also think a dual perspective would have worked well in this book. It would be nice to see some of the events through Raziel's eyes as well as Nate's.
