Graveyard Shift by M.L. Rio
2.0
Scooby Doo + Reality Bites
-College-age cast of characters
-Multiple POVs
-Graveyards
-Experimental medical testing
-Rats/fungus
-Insomnia
..
Very little backstory and an abrupt ending mean readers are dropped off in the middle of the story and allowed to observe the activities of a friend group who hang out in a graveyard and see something unusual one night so they investigate. I was unable to invest in these characters or the story so I felt like a casual witness to something I didn't really feel one way or the other about. I wanted more creepy, eerie, unsettling vibes and less filler. The story brings up more questions than it answers so when the ending hits suddenly, I was a little shocked the author chose to leave readers hanging like that.
Pretty disappointed by this one as an introduction to the author's work and feel less inclined to read, If We Were Villans.
