Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
5.0
4.5 stars
Can someone explain me what I just read?! This is one epic book, oh my god! I knew Sarah J. Maas has many fans and now she's able to add one more to her list: ME! The world she created in Throne of Glass is so intriguing and unique! I can't wait to explore it further in the next books of the series! I also want to mention that I added ToG to my favorites list - it totally belongs there and deserves all the hype. Just sayin'.
At first I had troubles reading all the names - especially Celaena's - but now I love them all! Celaena is such a badass, strong and witty girl that has been through a lot already and still hasn't given up. She's ready to fight for her future & her freedom and does whatever needs to be done. There's passion in her, strenth and a will that other heroines are always lacking ... I guess that's why I like her so much! She's unique, different and so, so brave! You rock, Celaena!
"You could rattle the stars," she whispered. "You could do anything, if only you dared. And deep down, you know it, too. That’s what scares you most."
Let's move on to the boys ... I know lots of people (the majority even?) is Team Chaol and while I do understand why they/you all like him so much I don't get why people aren't swooning over Prince Dorian as much?! Okay, Chaol is protective, strong and seems to be a really, really good friend and I enjoyed all his scenes with Celaena very much! The fact that he's a bit mysterious and well ... not so open about his feelings only adds to his gorgeousness. Who knows, maybe I'll change my opinion in the next book(s)? I wouldn't be surprised, haha.
But onto Dorian now ... he stole my heart! For now, at least. Right from the beginning I was attracted to him and wanted Celaena and him to be a thing. So badly, OH MY GOD. ♥ I adored every little interaction between these 2 ... Billards? Hell yes! The pups? Awwww so cute! Him being scared/worried about her (even though he didn't need to be because she's so awesome)? Give me more!! I could go on and on about Dorian but I need to save things for future ToG reviews. :P
"Her hand rose to her lips and she stared up at the stars, feeling her heart grow, and grow, and grow."
All the side characters were amazing too - I especially liked Nehemia and thought she's pretty cool! - and even the villains were great! This whole book is full of epicness! Sarah J. Maas' writing style is another important thing that I need to say something about: So, so good! She completely draws you into the story with a well thought-out plot, awesome characters and thrilling action scenes (the last 50-80 pages OMG!). It's addictive and a page-turner with no weird and/or boring scenes. I'd highly recommend reading this book/series if you haven't already ... if you have: well done! :D
