A Spark of Light by Jodi Picoult
Did not finish book.
I only read the first chapter ("5 P.M.") and the Epilogue. Why would I read the rest? I already know what happens. I really don't understand the decision to write this book in descending chronology; there were no surprises. I knew who the shooter was and I could figure out why everyone was in there (especially in part to the summary which felt like it told too much as well). I felt absolutely no urge to read the rest of the book. I read the epilogue to see what happens at 6 P.M. and then I was finished.
Mostly it comes down to me not needing or wanting to read about the abortion debate. I know where I stand. And this book is not going to make me change my mind.
The author's note was interesting. There was a lot of information; Picoult obviously did her homework on the topic, but there were some things in the AN, particularly quotes from pro-lifers and Picoult's own opinions, or rather how she expressed her opinions, that rubbed me the wrong way.
