Holding Up the Universe by Jennifer Niven

5.0

I haven't read a book in quite some time, but as soon as I started this I couldn't put it down. On page 7 I was already connected. I have never felt so connected to a character as I do Libby. I feel like Jennifer Niven got in my head and wrote her for me. I feel like she wrote Jack based off of my wife (who is not face blind) who changed my world and I know I've changed hers. At 26 I didn't think I'd connect with a character that is 17 but that's the beautiful thing about Niven's characters, their age isn't as important is their characteristics and their feelings and their reactions. They are more than their age.

I didn't think I would even pick this book up for fear of being disappointed that it wouldn't touch me the way ATBP did, but man am I glad I picked it up. Niven knows how to connect. She knows how to get you to feel. She makes you think and she puts you in shoes you didn't know you'd ever wear.

Best book I've read all year.
