Binge by Tyler Oakley
4.0
I've loved Tyler ever since I saw one of his videos on Youtube. There's just something so incredibly captivating about him ... he's adorable, funny and besides that he's also very inspiring and creative. This book proves just as much - he shares intimate stories with his readers/viewers and talks openly about the things he learned in life. His school time, relationships, casual hook-ups, his internet presence, different jobs he's had over the years and so much more.
I have to admit, I never read a biography before nor am I really into nonfiction books but this one might change my opinion about them - especially biographies always seemed very boring to me. This one definitely wasn't and I think what made me love this book so much is that you could totally see/feel/read that this was Tyler Oakley. I mean, everything in this book just screams his name and didn't feel fake or like it's written by someone else. If it was - which I doubt, really - they did a great job. I just felt so connected to him and even could relate to a few things he told us about. It gives (me) hope and shows that even "failures" can lead to something so much better.
The readers got a really deep insight into his life - present and past - and to see that he's just as normal as everyone else actually makes him even more likable. He's been through a lot but still managed to become a happy person and to live life to its fullest. Honestly, I'd love to have a friend like Tyler Oakley ... I mean, who wouldn't? This guy's great and I love him! Also, we can definitely learn a few things from him ... I think I certainly did.
Fact is, Tyler is an amazing human being and I'm sure with the topics he talks about and all the things he's shared so far, he's helped more than one person. No matter if it is to make them smile, actually learn something or help them through a hard time of their lives - Tyler is inspiring, admirable, intelligent and just an overall interesting person. I'm really glad I read Binge & personally, I think, if you like his Youtube videos or even are just curious/interested in him as a person, you'd surely enjoy this book - it's definitely worth a read!
