W the Whore by Katrin de Vries, Anke Feuchtenberger

5.0

W the Whore is a boldly feminist work born of an East/West German collaboration.  This enigmatic piece is a narrative of the female body and explores patriarchy and power, freedom and autonomy, choice and discovery.  The character of W the Whore is not a singular entity, and she is portrayed through stunning, otherworldly charcoal drawings with style that evolves between vignettes.  Sparse, poetic fables are left for the reader to interpret, and their interpretation can be whatever speaks to them at that moment.  You’d be hard-pressed to find a more unique volume.
