Acts of Desperation by Megan Nolan
3.0
I picked up this book off a recommendation from BookTube but going in I didn't know the synopsis. I also had a hardcover edition from the library but found that I actually preferred the audiobook and listening to Lauren Coe narrate this story.
This book definitely grew on me, I wasn't feeling it at the beginning but as we got to know the unnamed main character better in her head and thoughts, I've got to unfortunately admit I found a lot of relatability to her. The story focuses on toxic relationships and self-esteem and I think overall it did a good job of what it was trying to achieve.
It had a very abrupt ending and I do wish there was more resolution to the character's story as her development arc felt uncompleted.
It is easy to see why this is so popular and I can appreciate it even though it does not totally align with my taste in books.
