Yumi and the Nightmare Painter by Brandon Sanderson
4.0
This was a very good book, and all the five star reviews are correct and justified. Literally the only reason I am not giving this five stars is how long it took me to get properly invested in the characters, which is a me thing, and the fact that I do not always vibe with Hoid's storytelling voice in long-narrative form. (For someone who says stories are not to tell you what to think, he can be astonishingly didactic at times.) But the characters were excellent, the climax was excellent, and I did not see most of the reveal coming but it made sense in hindsight. So. Yes. Good book, excellent thoughts on art; you should read it.
