Amazing book! Reads like an adventure novel, hard to believe this is the telling of the actual childhood of the author. Th mother is infuriatingly lazy and selfcentered, the dad is infuriatingly drunk but very intelligent and the both of them do not know how to properly care for their childeren. The independence, interdependence and hardships and final succes of  (all but one of) the children are very inspiring to read about.
