Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by J.K. Rowling, Newt Scamander
2.0
Seeing how most of my friends have 5-starred this book, I feel like what follows is going to be an unpopular opinion: I did not really like the book. I was quite frankly a bit disappointed, because the premise sounded so good! This was supposed to be a textbook on fantastic beasts, therefore I was surprised be the lack of illustrations and description at times. I have a really hard time visualising things in my mind, so it felt more like a task to finish the book than something for leisure. I ended up reading along with the audio book, which was read by Eddie Redmayne, which made it more enjoyable. I feel it works way better in the audio format (the use of sound effects was also very nice).
I bought the illustrated edition two days ago, so I can't wait to see how I will feel about that one.
