The Blind Owl by Sadegh Hedayat
4.0
Rounded up from 3.75. This was incredibly weird, with a claustrophobic sense of dread, doom, and guilt that reminded me some of Poe’s Tell Tale Heart or Crime and Punishment. The narrative swirled and repeated, and it was fascinating to see how a few archetypal characters appeared over and over in different guises. This was way out of my normal - I read it for a book club, and thank goodness I’ll have people to discuss it with.
