This was a good read! I enjoyed a lot of it: the murder mystery, the characters, the pacing.

I did have some complaints. I noticed a few errors in the text that took my immersion away.

As for the relationship between Signa and Death… I liked the two of them… but did find it creepy. I wish that the author would’ve had them meet when she was an adult. Him knowing her since she was a baby was just an odd choice. I thought he’d be a father or familial influence but it quickly showed he’s the love interest.

I wish Sylas was his own character. I knew he was Death pretty early due to the fact that they were both too arm in arm with becoming the main love interest. I couldn’t see either being cast aside so I saw it coming. Regardless, I would’ve preferred Sylas be his own character who is the love interest and Death staying more of a guiding protective figure.

This was definitely insta love even if it’s marketed at enemies to lovers lol

Next, my big grip that I am hoping is remedied in the next book — I want the family to know it was Percy. Having the big reveal happen, the death happen, and then nothing come of it… was … disappointing to say the least.

It felt like we were missing the emotional pay-off in a sense.

Also, I am begging on my hands and knees that scones aren’t mentioned so damn often in the next book. 27 times ?!?? It felt like more but the kindle doesn’t lie!! There’s no need to mention a pastry that often.

I don’t care much about the “becoming a lady” ceremonies and such but I’m assuming that next book will follow that line of thought.

There was a lot good with this book. I enjoyed the spirits, I liked Signa and Blythe, and the ambiance was good.

I look forward to reading Foxglove!
