This post-apocalyptic world was a blast to be immersed in.

The beginning had me fully invested. Each meeting that Danny had with Wyn, the Soul Eater, had me anticipating what he would say next or when something drastic would happen.

I loved that Wyn & Danny were a switch couple and didn’t have stereotypical gender roles. That isn’t done enough in MM romances and is highly underrated.

I’ll for sure be continuing the series to read about the side character, Edin! He seems like a big teddy bear and I can’t wait to read more about him.

However, I have critiques. Learning more about this world (and Edin) is what kept me going, but there were some things that bothered me:

Danny/Wyn’s Relationship: It starts out of nowhere. I thought it would be a nice slow-burn, but instead it goes from Danny being scared and unsure to him suddenly being horny for Wyn in the span of a couple pages. Don’t get me wrong, the smut was pretty good, but I wish their relationship had been further developed.

Danny: Unfortunately, I didn’t care for the main character. He was immature and seemed to lack critical thinking skills. There were moments when I understood what he was trying to convey, but most of the time he felt like a teenager in their rebellious phase.

Repetition: β€œHis little amused huff” or any variation of that is a description that needed a limit. Along with Danny’s balls β€œhugging” his cock.

Plot: There were definitely some plot holes (will Mallory get what he deserves?) and not a lot happens besides the two characters walking around, but it wasn’t too bad. Though, with the major moments, they felt dramatic and came out of the blue instead of having any lead up. So when it was supposed to be sad or intense, I didn’t feel much of anything.

P.S. I’m assuming Wyn is immortal considering his age? How did neither of them bring up the fact that Danny is human & will age & die? It stressed me out that it was never brought up. These two aren’t great at communicating.
