The Business Trip had an intriguing premise that kept me reading, but unfortunately, the execution left much to be desired. While the storyline had enough mystery and tension to hold my interest, the writing itself felt mediocre, making certain moments fall flat when they should have been gripping.

Additionally, I wasn’t particularly fond of how the book handled representation. The portrayal of the Black character, Raven, felt off, and certain language choices like the use of the political slur lib-tard felt unnecessary and out of place. These elements took away from my overall enjoyment and made the reading experience frustrating at times.

While I appreciate the effort to craft a suspenseful and layered story, The Business Trip ultimately didn’t fully deliver. If you’re looking for a quick mystery with some intrigue, it might be worth picking up, but if you’re expecting sharp writing and well-handled social dynamics, you may want to look elsewhere.
