What fascinates me about
Jacob's Room is how Woolf depicts the life of Jacob Flanders through the other characters and how those different view points influence the reader's perception of Jacob and his character. Woolf's writing is filled with deep description and implied meanings and even as someone who has found other classics hard to digest in the past, I found the meaning behind the words shone through and showed how the very characteristics that Jacob sometimes displayed lead Victorian society to war and to Jacob's implied death as a Soldier on the battlefield in The Great War. Jacob’s Room was a reading experience that I found both engaging and thought-provoking and now having read this and Orlando I certainly plan to continue my exploration into the works of Virginia Woolf.
