The Book of Gothel by Mary McMyne
5.0
Do you ever read a book so good you wish it wasn't fiction? Goddamn. What a book.
This is a book deeply interested in the lives of women, in fairytales, in the patchwork that weaving together pre-Christian beliefs and Christian teachings created. It takes you by the hand in the prologue and pulls you stumbling into another world that's only a side-step away from the world that's ours. It's beautiful; it's magical, for want of a better world.
