This is definitely a cozy mystery! I really enjoyed the characters but they were frustrating at times. I just wanted more from it.
I felt like the pacing was… off. There was jumps in setting, and the whole mystery was meant to take place within a week-ish, but the timing did not feel right to me. There were also a few discoveries that just did not make sense (i.e. the blood test). I wish the inclusion of the new detective had been revisited more, as he was talked about a lot but only in one scene.
It did feel a bit repetitive to me in terms of the cooking moments. I did enjoy the inclusion of the recipes at the end and thought that was a super sweet addition.
Overall, 2/5 for me - I would not likely recommend this to a mystery enthusiast, but an unlikely maybe to someone who wants a “turn your brain off” kind of read. Another review described it as bland, and I thought that was very accurate.
