That Good Night: Life and Medicine in the Eleventh Hour by Sunita Puri
5.0
this book was an extremely interesting and emotional look into palliative care.
it was such a good examination of end of life treatment and the ethics of slightly prolonging someone's life at the expense of their comfort and dehumanization. I also really liked how puri discussed handling delivering such life altering news, and explaining to patients and their family that it's not just about being a "fighter," but about biological limitation. and while I don't agree with her from a spiritual standpoint, I definitely agree with finding the beauty in a limited lifespan and respect the hell out of the emotional drain puri and others in her field go through to give those close to death comfort and respect to their last breath
